Vipers Strike Again In The Valley

The Texas Legends (8-10) dropped their second straight match to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (15-5) 110-137 Saturday night in the Valley.

Texas grabbed the first lead, but the Vipers quickly jumped ahead, taking a double-digit edge at the buzzer.  Facing a 13-point deficit, the Legends went on a 14-0 run early in the second to regain the lead midway through.  The visitors’ jump was short lived as RGV went into halftime up 65-56.  The Vipers built a double-digit gap and held it through most of the second half, taking their largest lead of the night (+31) with under two minutes to play.

Justin Jackson led all scorers with 30 points, 4 rebounds.  Carlik Jones added 21 points, 11 assists, and James Banks III finished with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and a game-high 3 blocks.  Feron Hunt rounded out the Legends’ double-digits with 22 points, 8 rebounds.

Seven Vipers finished with double digits led by Trevelin Queen who knocked down 5-of-9 outside for 25 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.  Mfiondu Kabengele grabbed 21 points and took down a game-high 13 rebounds.
