TEXAS LEGENDS NAME NATE MITCHELL HEAD COACH

Frisco, TX – The Texas Legends have announced Nate Mitchell as their new head coach ahead of the 2026-2027 season.

Mitchell joins the Legends after most recently serving as head coach of the Guangzhou Loong Lions in the Chinese Basketball Association. Prior to his time in China, Mitchell served as an assistant throughout the NBA and G League.

Mitchell began his journey in the G League with the Maine Red Claws in 2014 before moving to Raptors 905. He was an assistant on the Raptors 905 team that won the G League Championship during their second season as a franchise in 2016-2017. He then gained NBA experience with the Toronto Raptors, Charlotte Hornets and Milwaukee Bucks, working alongside some of the league’s top coaches, players, and executives.

Mitchell has also been a prominent member of the Canada Men’s National Team program, serving as both an assistant and head coach. His international experience with Canada has included coaching at the highest level of international competition. He was part of the historic bronze medal team at the 2023 FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup that saw Canada defeat the United States 127-118 in overtime. This summer marked year 10 of Mitchell’s tenure with the national team.

Throughout his coaching career, Mitchell has earned a reputation for getting the most out of his players and helping them reach the next level of their careers.

The Legends will begin preparations for the 2026-2027 season under Mitchell’s leadership, with the first game tipping-off in Mexico City on Sunday, November 8^th.
