PINSON SETS FRANCHISE RECORD IN WIN OVER MEMPHIS

SOUTHAVEN, MS, (Feb. 9, 2024) – Theo Pinson set a franchise record with 20 assists in the Texas Legends’ (9-8) 135-128 routing of the Memphis Hustle (8-9).

Mike Miles Jr. started off hot with 11 points in the first, but the Hustle knocked down 59% and 67% outside to control the quarter.  With a 9-0 run late in the first, the home team built a double-digit difference they would hold for nearly 12 minutes.  Texas chipped away through the second, hitting a 12-0 run late and ending the half up 76-72. 

The Legends continued to dominate the third, clipping 64% outside as the Hustle struggled at 13%.  Opening the fourth with five points from Jelly Walker, the Legends took their largest lead of the night (+19), but the Hustle answered with a 10-point streak to bring the gap to single digits.  Memphis hit another 7-0 run late to bring themselves within three, but Texas finished strong to fend off the comeback attempt. 

Greg Brown III finished with a career-high 32 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 blocks.  Pinson tagged on 11 points and 7 rebounds to his 20 assists.  Walker added 27 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists, and Justin Jackson put up 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.  Miles added 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists in limited minutes, and Tyler Hall came off the bench for 12 points, 5 rebounds.  Joe Wieskamp grabbed a career-high 5 steals along with 6 points, 8 rebounds, and 1 block. 

Seven Hustle players finished in double figures led by DeJon Jarreau with a triple-double of 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists.  Adonis Arms added 21 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 blocks, and Matt Hurt finished with 20 points, 7 rebounds.  The Legends finish up a six-game road trip with one more matchup against the Hustle Sunday at 1pm.  The game will be broadcast live on the UEN app and urbanedge.network.
