Legends Streak Ends in Iowa

FRISCO, TX, (Jan. 27, 2018) – The Texas Legends (19-12) saw the end to their seven-game win streak with a 105-112 loss to the Iowa Wolves on the road Saturday night.

The two teams kept it close with 13 lead changes and 15 ties.  Iowa held a lead at both first half breaks, but the Legends came out firing in the third.  Texas held the Wolves to 19 points and took control with their largest lead of the night heading into the fourth up 83-77. The Wolves tied it up three times before regaining the lead midway through the fourth.

Texas was down three at the four-minute mark but Justin Patton grabbed the next basket from outside the arc, positioning Iowa for their largest lead of the night.  Down by nine with under two minutes to play, Texas put the ball in Johnathan Motley’s hands.  The Dallas Mavericks two-way player sunk a three but Iowa answered within seconds pulling out of reach of the visitors’ efforts.

Texas had three players tab double-doubles paced by Motley with 27 points, 11 rebounds.  Jameel Warney followed closely with 19 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists, and Brandon Ashley added 15 points, 10 rebounds.  Wade Baldwin IV grabbed 18 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals, and Jalen Jones rounded off the double-digit scoring with 14 points, 4 rebounds off the bench.

Anthony Brown led the Wolves with 23 points while Amile Jefferson and Patton grabbed 19 points, 12 rebounds each.  Elijah Millsap came off the bench for 20 points, 9 rebounds.
