FRISCO, TX (Jan. 23, 2018) –The Texas Legends (18-11) took over the Western Conference with a 122-109 victory that snapped a six-game winning streak for the Reno Bighorns (17-12).
The two teams exchanged leads four times in the first before Texas took control. After holding a six-point lead at the half, Wade Baldwin IV came out firing, pushing the gap to double-digits. Going 4-of-6, Baldwin finished the third with 11 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal and Texas had taken their largest lead of the night up 17. Reno opened the fourth with a 16-3 run but Texas finished it with 11 unanswered points to take a single-possession lead back to double-digits, out of reach of the visitors.
Baldwin and Brandon Ashley added 26 points, 8 rebounds each with the former contributing 6 assists, 2 steals and Ashley throwing in 2 steals, 3 blocks. Jameel Warney grabbed the team’s only double-double with 16 points, 10 rebounds while Kyle Collinsworth, in his first game back from time spent with the Dallas Mavericks, dished out 12 assists and grabbed 9 rebounds, 3 steals off the bench. Jalen Jones finished with 19 points, 6 rebounds off the bench while Donald Sloan (17 points, 8 rebounds) and Johnathan Motley (12 points, 6 rebounds) rounded off the Legends’ double-digit scoring.
Jack Cooley finished with a double-double for the Bighorns with 29 points, 12 rebounds while JaKarr Sampson added 29 points of his own to go with 7 rebounds, 4 steals.
