The Texas Legends (2-2) battled back from an 18-point deficit but were unable to finish the fight Tuesday night against the Oklahoma City Blue (2-2). Powered by a triple-double from Daniel Hamilton, the Blue closed the night 122-118.
The home team grabbed the first points of the game and took off to an 11-0 lead. Texas responded with a 6-point run but the Blue shot 63% to Texas’ 38% to hold onto the advantage. OKC took their largest lead of the night +18 in the second and muted an 11-point performance by Johnathan Motley to keep it 68-56 at the break.
Justin Dentmon opened the half with back-to-back baskets and the lead was quickly cut to 4. Texas ultimately tied the score before the Blue streaked 13-2 to spread the gap back to double-digits. With 9 minutes to play, the Legends faced a 12-point deficit, but Donald Sloan was up to the challenge. Behind 14 points from Sloan, Texas took their first lead of the night with 44 seconds on the clock. The slim lead came down to free throws and Hamilton was perfect in two trips to the line to seal the victory for the Blue.
Motley led all scorers with 27 points, 12 rebounds. Sloan and Dentmon followed closely with 26 and 24 respectively while each dishing out 5 assists.
Hamilton finished the night with 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists while Thunder assignee Terrance Ferguson also added 24 points.
