LEGENDS’ LATE COMEBACK COMES UP SHORT

MISSISSAUGA, ON, (Jan. 10, 2024) - The Texas Legends (4-2) chipped away at a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter but fell to the Raptors 905 (2-5) 112-119.
The game saw 11 lead changes, all in the first half. With just under one minute left in the second, Jelly Walker knocked down back-to-back threes to cut the deficit to three, but Markquis Nowell had the final word to make it 66-61 at the break. The Legends stayed close throughout the third, tying it up at the 3:40 mark. Opening the fourth with a six-point edge, the 905 went on an 8-0 run to take their largest lead of the night (+14) within the first two minutes. The Legends fought back and pulled within one with 1:47 to play, but a 6-0 stretch from the home team would keep them out of reach and force a series split.
Jelly Walker led all scorers with 31 points, 7 assists off the bench. Olivier-Maxence Prosper posted 22 points, 9 rebounds, and Theo Pinson grabbed the Legends’ only double-double of 10 points, 7 rebounds, 12 assists, and 3 blocks. Justin Jackson added 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 blocks, and Tyler Hall rounded out the double figures with 14 points, 4 rebounds.
Markquis Nowell led the 905 with 25 points, 5 rebounds, and 9 assists and Javon Freeman-Liberty added 21 points, 7 reobunds, and 5 assists. Mouhamadou Gueye grabbed a double-double for the home team with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
