LEGENDS HUSTLE PAST MEMPHIS

SOUTHAVEN, MS, (Nov. 29, 2022) - The Texas Legends (6-5) ran away with the second half of their first matchup against the Memphis Hustle (3-5) to take the 139-129 victory.   

Tyler Dorsey got off to a hot start with 3-of-3 outside for 11 first-quarter points to lead Texas to a 36-31 edge at the break.  Memphis erased the lead early in the second with an 8-2 run, but Dorsey kept firing, knocking down 15 more before the half.  Texas streaked through nine unanswered points to take a 70-56 lead into the locker room.   

The second half was all visitors as Texas went up by as many as 26.  The home team cut the gap to single digits in the final three minutes, but the Legends finished 4-of-4 at the line and held off the Hustle’s last efforts.   

Dorsey lit up the night finishing 9-of-12 outside for 39 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists.  Grant Riller added a season-high 30 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 5 steals, and Tyler Hall tagged on his own season-high with 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists.  Yudai Baba (14 points, 4 rebounds), Mouhamadou Gueye (12 points, 6 rebounds), and Taze Moore (10 points) rounded out the Legends’ double-digit scoring. 

Dakota Mathias and Matt Hurt led the Hustle with 27 points each while Terrell Brown Jr. came off the bench for the game’s only double-double of 10 points, 10 assists.
