The Texas Legends have partnered with UnitedHealthcare to host a night near and dear to both organizations. On Saturday, Dec. 29th, as the Legends suit up against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the team will don custom jerseys celebrating the UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation.
UHC’s Children’s Foundation is a non-profit started by the company to help children and families gain access to proper medical care through grants provided by the foundation. In 2018 alone, the foundation awarded more than 2,500 grants worth nearly $4 million. For 2019, they are already poised to award more than 3,300 grants. To reach this goal, the foundation is implementing new outreach and fundraising programs to serve even more children across the US.
“It’s not often that our fans get to see behind-the-scenes of some of our larger partners like UHC,” said Legends President/General Manager Malcolm Farmer. “The general public doesn’t get to see the heart of the company working through their foundation, so we’re excited to bring that to life at Saturday’s game. UHC does so much for this community that goes unnoticed, we wanted to take a night to celebrate what they’re doing so close to home.”
The Children’s Foundation exists to make sure that the stars of tomorrow are able to grow into their dreams, and Saturday’s jerseys symbolize just that. The jerseys incorporate the logos and color schemes of UHC and the Children’s Foundation. The Legends’ wordmark is transformed to match the Foundation’s and the numbers are scrolled to signify a child’s crayon markings, highlighted by golden stars. As the team suits up, they remind the Legends fan base of the importance of caring for our youth, and fans at the game will be given opportunities throughout to do so—including the chance to purchase a game-worn jersey with all proceeds benefiting the UHC Children’s Foundation.
The Legends and Vipers will meet for the third of four matchups this season. Texas took a 1-0 lead on the series defeating RGV in Frisco in November, while RGV evened the series in the Valley last night. For tickets or information call 214-469-0822 or visit www.TexLegends.com.
