LEGENDS HIT MOORE IN OT FOR WIN

WILMINGTON, DE, (Mar. 16, 2023) – The Texas Legends (7-21) closed overtime with a dunk from Taze Moore to take down the Delaware Blue Coats (20-9) 132-129 in a Thursday matinee game at the Fieldhouse. 

Texas grabbed the first basket with an outsider from Kalob Ledoux and shot 57% beyond the arc to lead 38-31 at the end of the first.  The visitors’ hot shooting continued through the second when they clipped 55% to Delaware’s 37%.  The Legends built up a 20-point lead late in the second, but the Blue Coats went on a 14-2 run before the buzzer.  Justin Jackson boasted a double-double heading into the locker room as the Legends held onto a 70-60 lead. 

Delaware opened the third on a 7-0 streak, but Jackson answered with back-to-back threes and finished the quarter with 13 to keep the Legends on top 102-91.  The Blue Coats hit another streak in the first minutes of the fourth and slowly closed the gap.  Jaden Springer responded to a long ball from Jackson with four straight points to tie it up.  Lacey James knocked down both shots from the line to put Texas back on top with 32 seconds to play, but Springer grabbed the final basket for Delaware to send it into overtime. 

The Blue Coats nabbed the first four points in overtime at the line before Amauri Hardy answered from outside. Hardy finished another three-point play to give Texas their first lead in OT and after missed opportunities on both ends, Taze Moore slammed in the final points to put Texas over the target score (131).

Justin Jackson led the Legends with 32 points (8-of-14 outside), 15 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals.   Amauri Hardy tagged on 26 points, 4 assists, and Lacey James grabbed 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 blocks off the bench.  Kalob Ledoux added 19 points, and Tyler Hall (12 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists) and Taze Moore (11 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists) rounded out the Legends’ double-digit scoring. 

Jaden Springer finished with a game-high 36 points, 7 rebounds while Mac McClung added 33 points, 3 rebounds.  Braxton Key tallied 15 points, 17 rebounds, and 4 assists, and Charlie Brown Jr., Michael Foster Jr., and Justin Smith grabbed 10 points apiece.
