LEGENDS DRAFT SAREM JAFARI FIRST OVERALL IN 2024 INTERNATIONAL DRAFT

FRISCO, TX- The Texas Legends, the G League affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks, have announced the selection of Sarem Jafari from Iran as the number one overall pick in the 2024 NBA G League International Draft.

"At 6'9, with a seven-foot wingspan, he is an intriguing prospect and a terrific addition to our foundation of talented young players," said Texas Legends GM Terry Sullivan. "Sarem's unique combination of shooting and rim protection from the wing are traits we value in the Legends & Mavericks organizations."

In the 2023-24 season with Foolad (Iran-Superleague), Jafari averaged 8.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks per game, showcasing his all-around capabilities and potential to make an immediate impact in the G League.

"He's eager to get to work, and Coach Sears and I are excited to welcome Sarem to Frisco and into the Legends family on and off the court," added Sullivan. "We believe he has the talent and drive to excel and develop into a significant player for our team and potentially for the Mavericks in the future."

The Texas Legends have acquired the rights to Jafari, who will be NBA Draft eligible in 2025.

The NBA G League International Draft enables teams to acquire the returning player rights for international prospects. In the 2024 draft, four players from three different countries were selected. These athletes, eligible for the NBA Draft, can declare between 2025 and 2027.
