LEGENDS CAST A SPELL ON MAGIC IN FOURTH QUARTER COMEBACK

FRISCO, TX, (Nov. 22, 2022) - The Texas Legends (5-3) overcame a 21-point deficit in the fourth to take down the Lakeland Magic (3-5) 122-120.   

The teams exchanged leads 11 times in the first half, staying within nine points on both sides.  Texas tied it up with two minutes remaining in the half, but Lakeland powered out nine unanswered and took a 58-49 lead into the break.   

With 7:25 left to play, the visitors built their largest lead of the night (+21) and the Legends’ backcourt took over.  McKinley Wright IV and Jaden Hardy combined for the team’s final 34 points.  With 14 seconds on the clock, Wright finished a three-point play to put Texas on top and Yudai Baba swatted Zavier Simpson’s attempted response.  Wright then extended the gap at the line as Texas held off the final efforts to sweep the series 2-0.   

Hardy had a career-night and checked every stat box with 35 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks.  Wright tagged on 32 points, 4 rebounds, 9 assists, and 3 steals.  Josh Nzeakor came off the bench for a season-high 14 points and 4 rebounds, and Tyler Dorsey added 12 points, 4 rebounds.  Mouhamadou Gueye finished off the Legends’ double-digits with 10 points, 5 rebounds.   

Simpson led the Magic’s efforts with 22 points, 5 rebounds, and 9 assists, and Jay Scrubb added 21 points, 5 rebounds.  Robert Baker came off the bench for 17 points, 12 rebounds, and Jemerrio Jones tallied a second double-double with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists.
