Legends Bounce Birmingham in OT Thriller

After a loss in Birmingham Monday, the Texas Legends (12-13) bounced back for an overtime victory against the Squadron (12-11) 110-104 Saturday night in Frisco.
The game stayed close for 50 minutes, changing leads 12 times with 5 ties. After five lead changes in the first five minutes, the visitors took over. Justin Wright-Foreman had four straight points to close out the quarter with Birmingham on top 26-21. The edge grew quickly in the first two minutes of the second as Jared Harper opened with six unanswered points to give the Squadron a double-digit advantage. Texas answered the 11-point gap and ultimately grabbed a lead of their own with just under two minutes in the half, but Birmingham finished on a 6-0 run to the break.
The Squadron stayed in control until the final two minutes of the third. The Legends went on a 10-2 run ending in a Moses Wright buzzer-beater to take a 78-75 lead into the fourth. Texas took their largest lead of the night (+9) midway through, but the game was within four points for the final five minutes. The two teams exchanged baskets and free throws, but Zach Hankins forced the extra minutes with a final make from the line. At 104-all, Texas defended home court with their extra two minutes, holding the visitors scoreless.
Olin Carter III led the scoring efforts with 25 points, 8 rebounds. Carlik Jones finished with his third straight double-double of 22 points, 11 assists, and 6 rebounds. Moses Wright grabbed his second double-double in three games finishing with 19 points, 15 rebounds.
Jared Harper was the visitors’ leader matching Carter’s 25 points with 8 rebounds. Zach Hankins finished with 19 points and a game-high 16 rebounds, and Zylan Cheatham grabbed a second double-double for the Squadron with 10 points, 10 rebounds.
