The Texas Legends have acquired guard Ryan Boatright from the Agua Caliente Clippers in exchange for forward J.J. Avila.
Boatright (5-11, 175, Connecticut) appeared in seven games (four starts) for Agua Caliente this season averaging 7.4 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in 22.9 minutes per game. He played four years for the Huskies averaging 17.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.4 steals as a senior, earning All-AAC First Team. Boatright helped lead the Huskies to a National Championship as a junior and earned a spot on the NCAA Final Four All-Tournament Team.
His rookie season, Boatright joined the Detroit Pistons in training camp and was allocated to the Grand Rapids Drive. In 20 games with the Drive he averaged 11.1 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.9 assists. The Illinois native has played internationally the last three seasons in Italy, China, Croatia, and Turkey.
Boatright will join the Legends at the G League Showcase and is expected to be in uniform as the team takes on the Erie Bayhawks Wednesday at 7pm CT. Fans can catch all the action live on ESPNU.
