KINGS REIGN OVER LEGENDS

STOCKTON, CA, (Mar. 2, 2023) – The Texas Legends (6-15) suffered a wire-to-wire loss to the Stockton Kings (17-6) 100-127 Thursday night on the West Coast.   

The Kings grabbed the first basket, but Texas stayed close through the first quarter.  After tying it up less than two minutes in, Texas struggled offensively but remained within nine points of the home team.  Taking an eight-point advantage into the second, Stockton built up a 16-point gap in the final minutes of the half.  With 47 seconds left, the Kings held their 16-point lead, but Texas finished on a 5-0 run to go into the locker room down 40-51. 

Justin Jackson came out firing to lead the Legends with a perfect 3-3 for 12 third-quarter points.  Texas hit 58% and 60% outside to outscore the home team 40-36 and cut the difference to 80-87 heading into the last quarter.  The Kings opened the fourth on an 8-0 run and doubled the Legends’ output to take their largest lead of the night (+28) before the final buzzer. 

Jackson and McKinley Wright IV tied for a game-leading 23 points apiece.  Jackson also led the Legends with 8 rebounds while Wright dished out 4 assists.  Tyler Hall and Grant Riller rounded out the double-digit scoring with 15 and 10 points respectively.

The Kings had seven players finish with 10+ led by Jordan Ford with 22 points and Deonte Burton at 21.  Neemias Queta filled the stats line with 14 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 4 blocks.  The Legends will get a rematch Saturday at 7pm CT.  Fans can catch all the action live at www.TexLegends.com.
