Official Release | November 18, 2018

The Iowa Wolves (2-5) heated up in the fourth quarter to overcome the Texas Legends (3-4) 118-111 Sunday night in Iowa.

Daryl Macon opened the game with a long ball to give Texas the first advantage.  The Legends held on until the five-minute mark, when seven straight points from Darius Johnson-Odom boosted the Wolves into the lead.  Texas tied it up three more times, but Iowa held a two-point edge going into the second.  Early in the second, Rashad Vaughn knocked down back-to-back threes to put Texas on top and the Legends would widen the gap to 10 points at the half.

The third opened with a trio of threes–Vaugh, a response from Iowa’s Canyon Barry, and another from Warney to put Texas up 13.  The Wolves streaked through seven points to come within six, but Texas eventually responded with nine unanswered for their largest lead (+14) of the night.  The back-and-forth continued with Texas remaining ahead 85-80 going into the final minutes.

The Wolves continued chipping away at the lead and used a three-pointer from Hakim Warrick to take their final lead with just under eight minutes to play.  After the go-ahead, the home team streaked through 13 unanswered points to take their largest lead of the night (+14).  Texas put up 16 points in the final four minutes but it was no match for the Wolves’ 38-point quarter.

Warney was the driving force for the Legends with the game’s only double-double of 20 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks.  Macon also added 20 points to go with 7 rebounds and 6 assists.  Vaughn went perfect (5-of-5) from outside to finish with 19 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals, and Kostas Antetokounmpo posted 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks.  Keith Hornsby and JJ Avila finished with 13 and 10 points respectively off the bench to make it six Legends in double-digits.

Iowa also had six players finish with double-digit scores led by Warrick with 23 points, 6 rebounds off the bench.  Johnson-Odom added 20 points, 4 rebounds and Jared Terrell had 19 points and a team-high 5 assists.
