By Texas Legends Staff /January 16, 2022

The Texas Legends (2-1) used a 42-point performance from Carlik Jones to complete a two-game sweep of the Santa Cruz Warriors (3-2) with a 136-132 overtime victory Saturday night in Frisco.

Texas got the game’s first basket and carried the lead through most of the first.  Quinndary Weatherspoon lit up the second with 12 points in the first eight minutes to put the visitors on top.  The halftime break looked like a double-digit deficit before DeJon Jarreau finished the second with a long ball to make it 61-68 at the buzzer.

The Warriors led by as many as 14 in the second half, but Texas stayed within single digits in the final quarter.  A long ball from Justin Jackson with 2.8 seconds to play sent the game into overtime where Jones sank 9-of-10 from the line and grabbed all 11 of Texas' points.

Jones dished out 10 assists for his second straight double-double while Jackson neared a double-double of his own with 30 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists.  Feron Hunt finished with 17 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals, and Loudon Love added 12 points, 3 rebounds.  Tyler Davis came off the bench for 8 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals in his second appearance with the team.

Weatherspoon powered the Warriors with a full board of 34 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks.  LJ Figueroa added 30 points, 8 rebounds, and Frankie Ferrari followed a 16-assist night with 17 and 20 points.
