ONTARIO, CA (Feb. 12, 2018) –The Texas Legends (22-16) fell to the South Bay Lakers (23-14) 114-155Monday night on the West coast but remain in second place of the Southwest division heading into the All-Star break.
The Lakers took off to a 5-0 lead before Texas went on a 14-2 run to take their largest lead of the night. Midway through the first the Lakers regained their control, and in spite of Texas’ tying attempts the home team never looked back.
Texas’ Brandon Ashley led the visitors’ scoring with 23 to complement 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocks. J.J. Avila had his second night of season-high assists to lead the team with 6 while pulling down 6 rebounds and tallying 15 points on 7-of-13 shooting. Jameel Warney went 9-of-18 for 21 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists.
The Lakers had seven players in double-digits including four over 20 and two with double-doubles. En route to an opponent season-high score against Texas, the Lakers shot 60% and grabbed 60 rebounds while dishing out 38 assists.
