Legends Draft Six, Set Training Camp Roster

The Legends selected six players in today’s 2017 G League Draft, completing two trades to finalize the 2017-18 training camp roster. Camp will begin Monday, Oct. 23rd and will see 13 players competing for a spot on the team.

John Gillon (6-0, 178, Syracuse) was the 36th overall pick and the Legends’ first selection in the Draft. Gillon spent two seasons at Colorado State where he joined future Legends teammates JJ Avila and Gian Clavell.

The Houston native then transferred to Syracuse where he averaged 10.5 points, 1.8 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 1.4 steals and earned ACC Player of the Week.

Later in the second round (48th), the Legends selected Derick Newton and subsequently traded him to Windy City along with the returning player rights to Ben Gordon. In exchange, Texas received the returning player rights to Justin Dentmon.

In the third round, the Legends selected Grant Johnson (62nd) from Winona State, Jordan Woodard (74th) from Oklahoma, and Antoine Mason (76th) from Auburn. Texas subsequently traded Mason to Erie for Erie’s own 3rd round pick in the 2018 G League Draft.

Finally, with the 10th pick of the 4th round, Texas selected Prince Williams (88th) from East Carolina.

The training camp roster consists of six returning players, three local tryout invitees, and four draft picks. The complete roster is as follows:
