Legends guard CJ Williams has signed a deal with the Los Angeles Clippers. Williams (6-5, 230, NC State) played 50 games with the Legends last season averaging 12.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 29.3 minutes. The North Carolina native has been invited to NBA Summer League the last four years, and joined the Legends out of the Dallas Mavericks training camp last season. In this summer’s Vegas showcase, the Legends’ alum started for the Minnesota Timberwolves, averaging 10.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists and hitting a game-winner against the Golden State Warriors.
Following his showing in Vegas, Williams was invited to play for Team USA in the FIBA Americup where he played all five games of the tournament (8.8 ppg, 3.2 rpg) and helped lead the team to an undefeated, gold medal finish.
“I appreciate the opportunity I’ve been presented with here in LA,” Williams stated. “My experiences over the years have afforded me this new opportunity and I’m looking to go in and showcase my skills and show that I can help a team win.”
