The Legends (21-13) fell in a hard-fought battle with the Austin Spurs (22-13) 124-130 Saturday night in a packed Dr Pepper Arena.
Texas took the first lead and pulled away by six before Austin took over after eight minutes of play. The two teams exchanged leads four more times in the second before an 11-point run by Austin allowed them to pull away by 8 heading into the locker room.
The lead expanded to double-digits early in the third, but the Legends responded with 14 straight to regain the advantage. The home team’s lead wouldn’t last long as the Spurs flipped the tables and took the lead they would carry through the final buzzer.
Jalen Jones led the scoring efforts for Texas with 28 points, 8 rebounds, while Xavier Johnson grabbed his first career double-double with 24 points, 10 rebounds. Donald Sloan added a double-double of his own with 22 points, 12 assists, and 6 rebounds.
Austin had eight players in double-digits led by Derrick White with 23 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. Livio Jean-Charles added the team’s only double-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists.
